Star Dream Cruise at the Marina Island Jetty Complex
LUMUT, June 22 – Perak’s maritime tourism sector reached another milestone yesterday with the successful return of the international cruise ship, Star Dream Cruise, at the Marina Island Jetty Complex.
The vessel’s second arrival further solidifies Marina Island and Pangkor Island’s positions as rapidly growing cruise tourism hotspots within the region. The influx of international travelers is expected to provide a substantial economic boost to local communities, vendors, and tourism entrepreneurs across the Lumut and Pangkor areas.
Present to welcome the cruise passengers was the Orang Besar Jajahan (OBJ) Manjung, YDH Toh Seri Bijaya Lt. Kol (B) Dato’ Shaharudin bin Haji Nazari, alongside Tourism Perak Chief Operations Officer, Puan Zuraida Binti Md Taib. They were joined by various government agency representatives and key tourism industry stakeholders.
Boosting Local Economy and Heritage
Upon arrival, passengers were treated to a vibrant cultural showcase highlighting Malaysia’s rich heritage. The welcoming ceremony also featured a special appearance by Wira and Manja, the official mascots for the upcoming Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign.
According to officials, the continuous arrival of international cruise liners is a strategic step forward in establishing Marina Island as Perak’s premier maritime gateway.
This initiative heavily supports ongoing state and national efforts to attract international tourists to Perak ahead of the Visit Malaysia 2026 tourism drive, while ensuring direct financial benefits flow into the local hospitality and retail ecosystems.
