Lumut will soon become a port of call for international cruise liners when a marina incorporating Dutch architecture is built on a man-made island in Teluk Muroh here.

According to a Bernama report, the RM 1 billion Marina Island Pangkor project undertaken by Marina Sanctuary Resort Sdn Bhd would be on a 128.3 hectare man-made island.

"Upon completion in the next 10 to 15 years, the island will have mixed buildings comprisingly a jetty, sailing academy, hotel, shopping centre, commercial centre, homes and shophouses," said Marina Sanctuary Resort Sdn Bhd project manager, B.K Goh at the launch of the Marina Island Pangkor shophouses recently.

He said land reclamation work of the man-made island started in 2003 while construction of commercial buildings and residential homes would begin this month.
